I say no.

What is it that you want from him? I had a pretty icky transaction with him as well. Well, the transaction wasn't too bad, but the guy was not lenient with price and charged too much. I gave him some parts and was still charged for something that's worth much less. Blah.

Um, i can say from being an employee there it blows. I quit when one of my 2' long flat head screwdrivers was thrown across the shop at me. That shop is the king of jimmy riggin stuff, i don't know how many times i bent cars back with a sledge hammer and floor jack, taken out airbags that have been deployed not replaced them, you name it, its been done. I recently had a 245 turbo with motor mounts that failed knocking my oil filter off and ruining my engine, so i sold that car for nothing to them and got another 245 turbo, with a bad clutch, so they put one in. There was a couple bolts missing that go thru the bellhousing to the block, the lied about new motormounts, drilled out stripped exhaust manifold studs and put in huge bolts, not using helicoils, using straight up silicon instead of the little o-ring for where the return oil line goes into the head. Dude, you name it i'll give you a reason not to go there. O, i'm also legally tresspassed from the service side of things for my friend spitting on Jimmy's car, and if you don't know jimmy's car, it's a bright red benz 320, you can't miss it. Whatever you do, just don't go there.
Kevin

P.S. I caught two workers from the corner a few blocks up breaking into my car trying to steal my stereo one day, if that helps you decide to not drive your nice car if you do go there.

Wow. That REALLY confirms it. That's even worse than I could've imagined though. I'm suprised that place exists still with business practices like that!

Welcome to the forum man, hope to see you make it out to some of our events...

Kevin,

Good to hear that ya finally got out of there. IIRC, wasn't your car a white 245Ti? If so, I may remember ya from the time I dropped in looking for a set of Hydras for my black '82 242 in October 2004... Don't think I'll go back there ever again, even if the prices on parts are dirt cheap.

Did'nt want to talk too much smack, but feel better seeing that an ex-worker of theirs posted. We've seen some F-uped stuff come through our shop that people wanted to get fixed that have come from that place. We cringe in a big way when ever we see a car that is from there or has even been worked on by that shop. Screwed up stuff, the kind of place that gives automotive shops a bad name in general. It's hard to see people make money like that (screwing over people that don't know cars) when we run a honest shop.

Bad enough that it's a running joke at the shop when we see chopped together cars. From there or not.

Hey good info dudes, I have never even heard about that shop until this post, and just this last weekend I had a budy up in p-town ask me if I knew anything about that shop because he was going to take his car there.
I just told him what you guys have said about it. Save as many people as posible from that s**t hole. On that note, what are the good safe volvo only shops up there?

Well, my former boss Chris Bogue Former owner of Mercy Motive(motors) now manages' Volvo Only. He's the only Mechanic there too. I might be going to work for him there, And at Adam's Auto server LLC. Which is also very reputable shop. Chris is trying his damn hardest to turn Volvo's Only around. no more BS stuff.

Nice. That'd be good. So did the old ownership move out, or what? Do they still have a bunch of parts?

We should start a section with suggestions on where to get your car worked on

I have seen V Shops works and they do a great job. I will also throw out there that Rod Macaya in Camas is independent (I think Eric formaly of IPD might work for him now?) and does an excelent job

Looks like Rich is back to selling his overpriced cars on Craigslist again. Not sure if he still has the lot on 9th & E. Burnside. The pictures in his ads look like the empty lot next to Volvo's Only. Anybody know if he is still associated with the shop?

Ethan,

Yeah, it does look like he has the 910 E. Burnside lot still. It's been renamed, but the cars are still the overpriced hack jobs.

Yeah, I've dealt with him once in the past too... Traded him an early 140 grill(not in perfect shape, but usable) and an automatic 140 radiator, and then PAID $25 to get a good turn signal switch. Man, this is the first time I thought of it, but DAAAAAMN that was a bad deal. I asked him how much a set of virgos would be when I was there too, and I think he wanted like $100 per wheel?!
